A Caddo Sheriff’s Office deputy won a statewide award Tuesday for his work on a federal fentanyl trafficking investigation with the Drug Enforcement Agency that sent three Shreveport residents to federal prison.
Corporal Rick Anderson earned the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association Deputy of the Year award at the state conference in Destin, Florida. The investigation led to the first conviction for distributing fentanyl resulting in death in the Western District of Louisiana, according to former U.S. Attorney Brandon Brown.
The three convicted in the Shreveport case were charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl resulting in death and serious bodily injury, possession with intent to distribute heroin, using or maintaining drug premises and possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking…
