Caddo Parish launches Youth Leadership Alliance to cultivate next generation of leaders

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Caddo Parish Commission has officially launched the Caddo Parish Youth Leadership Alliance, a youth-led council aimed at empowering high school students through civic engagement, leadership development and government education.

The inaugural members of the CPYLA were sworn in by parish attorney Donna Frazier, marking the beginning of the council’s first operational year. The initiative, originally conceptualized in 2024 by District 7 commissioner and current commission President Stormy Gage-Watts, was approved later that year following a recommendation by the Juvenile Justice Committee.

The program brings together sophomores, juniors and seniors from across Caddo Parish, each nominated by their schools for their academic performance and leadership potential. The council will meet from September through May and take part in additional community initiatives throughout the year…
