The entire Shreveport community recently rallied behind Snaketuary, a local animal rescue, to help a different kind of pet: turtles. Over 30 turtles were successfully rescued from the large enclosure at Mall St. Vincent, which Steven from Steve’s Snaketuary had been documenting as a state of “neglect.” Once the Snaketuary team raised public concern, the community quickly rallied, and the collaborative rescue effort proved to be a major success. Now, however, the team is facing a hefty veterinary bill.
Steven’s goal from the start was simply to help the turtles. His veterinarian was ready to take them in for care, and following a productive dialogue with the mall’s new management, all the turtles were released to Snaketuary. While the rescue was a triumphant moment, the turtles’ immediate medical needs have created significant veterinary bills. Many of the turtles required treatment for conditions like mineral deficiencies and shell deformities, which require specialized and costly care.
Luckily for Snaketuary, they have some iconic heroes jumping in to help them raise money for all the vet bills: the Ninja Turtles.
