The high cost of litter on Louisiana roads

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Litter is costly to Louisiana’s economy and environment. Local residents are reaching out to us see what can be done to clean-up local roadways.

State data according to Keep Louisiana Beautiful shows litter costs the state and thus its tax payers $91-million each year. The largest accumulation of trash and debris is found in north Louisiana, especially on its roadways and interstates.

Residents are noticing because a woman in Shreveport sent us a request under our “Your Voice Matters” submissions asking why there is so much litter accumulating on the Cross Lake Bridge and Interstate 3132 to I-20 west and east…
