Shreveport’s newly reopened downtown spray ground is closed again. But this time, the closing is only temporary. The city is taking care of some glitches with the system.

While operating the new system, we noticed a few issues we want to address. Since this is brand-new technology, we’re being proactive to make sure everything runs smoothly. By tackling these adjustments now, we’ll be ready to operate with a reliable, bug-free system that everyone can enjoy.
Shreveport celebrated the reopening of the spray park in early August. The splash pad had been closed for seven years because of damage from flooding.
Closed Again After Revival
Families had only just begun to enjoy the newly refurbished splash pad at Riverview Park, located across from the Sci-Port Discovery Center. But crews have been tweaking the system to make sure it is working properly. Another great feature of this splash pad is the lights. At night, the lights are sync’d with the lights on the Texas Street Bridge.
How Much Did the Repairs Cost?
Shelly Ragle with SPAR has told KEEL Newsthe repair work cost about one million dollars. Bids came in last year at $1.376 million from Daren Bailey, INC of Bossier City. KEEL News has learned there were no cost overruns on this project. So the final tab is $1.3 million. We don’t know yet if these current repairs are being done by the contractor or by SPAR.
