SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – It appears that the latest round of summer heat is here to stay. Temperatures this weekend will remain above normal and likely stay that way through all of next week. It’s also possible that we stay dry for at least the next ten days, and possibly the next two weeks.
Weekend temperatures: The upper-level ridge of high pressure that has brought the hot and dry conditions will weaken a little during the next few days. This will allow the heat to ease, but only a little. Temperatures on Saturday morning will begin in the lower 70s. Daytime highs Saturday afternoon will be a degree or two cooler as most locations settle into the middle 90s. Expect the same on Sunday
Spotty shower can’t be ruled out: Futurecast continues to show that a few spotty and brief showers will be possible this weekend. I’m not expecting to see any rain at my location, and if I do see some, I will consider it ‘bonus rain’. Most of us will see a clear to partly cloudy sky on Friday night and a mix of sunshine and clouds on Saturday. We will stay dry on Saturday night under a partly cloudy sky. Expect the same mix of clouds and sunshine on Sunday.
Long-range outlook: Temperatures will likely remain above normal during the first half of next week with highs in the middle 90s and lows in the lower 70s. The upper ridge may weaken a bit more later next week. This may allow temperatures to fall closer to normal in the low to middle 90s. Overnight lows could ease into the upper 60s to lower 70s.
The Blend of Models continues to show that all of the area will stay dry during the next ten days. Individual models do hope for a little rain. Have a great weekend!!!…
