Or maybe you’ve made a specific drive to Natchitoches just for some of those famous yam cakes and scrumptious meat pies from The French Market Express. These spots are our constant reminder that delicious food is always just around the corner, especially here in Louisiana.
The Quest for the Best Gas Station Grub
So far on our search for the best gas station food in the SBC, we’ve found the best chicken strips in Haughton, the best ribs from a gas station in Shreveport, and some delicious fried fish in Bossier. Now, we’re heading to Benton for a famous burger.

Cypress Shak Is More Than Just a Pit Stop
This place is unique for sure. We love a gas station with its very own bait shop, and you can’t forget the beaver that looks like it’s judging you as you pick out your bait and tackle. We also love a gas station with a little bit of everything, including a dining room just for the food.
The Star of the Show: That Famous Burger
You weren’t wrong when you said it was an amazing burger, and I’m convinced that the jalapeño bun is what sends it over the top. You can add as much as you want to your burger. I wish I had added some bacon or jalapenos to make it even better.
The fried pickles were more like pickle chips, and I loved that crunch. They also have daily specials, and I had to order the meatball sub because I have been searching for a killer meatball sandwich, although this one didn’t make me lose my mind, it was still a good lunch option…
