Caddo School Board extends superintendent’s contract

SHREVEPORT, La. – There were 11 strong yeses but one Lone Ranger on the fence when it came time Tuesday night to extend the Caddo Parish Schools’ superintendent’s contract.

Board members first were unanimous in approving Superintendent Keith Burton’s evaluation following a closed- door session.

Then the board voted 11 yes with one abstention to extend Burton’s contract an additional year, taking him to Sept. 30, 2028.

Board members openly praised Burton’s footprint on the district, including improved student retention rate. Last year, according to the board, Caddo Parish lost almost 700 students…
