Shreveport’s police headquarters is nearly empty, though getting everyone out of the crumbling complex is taking longer than expected.
It’s been a year since Shreveport council members started pushing for the rapid relocation of police department personnel from their Texas Avenue headquarters over health and comfort concerns. Now nearly all officers and civilian employees have left the facility for other locations, and the city preparing soon to rebuild it.
In September 2024, photos of the interior of the Shreveport police headquarters complex circulated on social media and inspired city council members to demand the mayor relocate personnel from inside.
