Shreveport city expenses show $153M increase over five-year period

(The Center Square) – Shreveport city spending has increased by $153 million over the last five years across all major funds, according to city financial reports.

After reviewing monthly financial reports for Shreveport, The Center Square found that city spending has increased substantially since 2020. While revenues are increasing, the increase is not as substantial as the increase in spending.

By the end of 2020, the city brought in $201 million in general fund revenue and $139 million in nongeneral fund major revenue, totaling $340 million. The city spent $354 million that same year across all funds…
