PROJECT UPDATE: Jimmie Davis Bridge (LA 511) replacement, Bossier & Caddo Parishes

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the $361 million project to build a new Jimmie Davis Bridge (LA 511) over the Red River in Bossier and Caddo Parishes continues to move forward.

The design-builder is progressing on the installation of the drilled shafts, which are large cylindrical foundations that are filled with concrete to form the columns of the new bridge. These components are designed to support significant loads as traffic travels over the bridge.

Additionally, the necessary widening and realignment of LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Hwy/E. 70th St.) continues to forge ahead, including construction of the on and off-ramps that will service the new 4-lane structure and provide access to the two parkways on either side of the river…
