SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – What began as a vision shared by four individuals in 1989 has blossomed into one of northwest Louisiana’s largest Mardi Gras organizations, bringing millions of dollars in economic impact to the Shreveport-Bossier area.
The Krewe of Centaur now boasts more than 780 members and operates more than 30 throwing floats, making it a cornerstone of the region’s annual Mardi Gras celebration, which draws thousands of spectators to the streets.
“There was a vision created, and they wanted to bring a great Mardi Gras to northwest Louisiana, so I believe we succeeded in that,” said Ricky Bridges, captain of the Krewe of Centaur.
