On paper, the game between Jonesboro-Hodge High School and Plain Dealing this past Thursday night looked to be a mismatch. It was. And in historic fashion.
Jonesboro-Hodge had no trouble in beating the Lions 40-0 in the district 1-1A matchup that lifted the Tigers to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in district play, while Plain Dealing fell to 0-8 and 0-6 and saw their state-longest losing streak, dating back to 2021, move to 44 straight games.
While the final score was no surprise, the way the Tigers’ defense totally shut down the Lions was, as JHHS set two new defensive school records by limiting Plain Dealing to a minus 34 yards rushing and minus 24 yards in total offense.
