Cedric Edwards still on death row 30 years after 2 shots to head of Victoria Catanese Kennedy

Gerald Kennedy hurried to close and lock his front door behind him but failed after spotting a man with a gun climbing stairs toward his second-floor apartment on Cross Lake the night of Oct. 27, 1995.

Had he not been shot in the upper right arm along the way, he may have had a better chance of preventing his pursuer from entering the apartment, or he may have had a better chance of successfully using the gun he retrieved from a bedroom, as revealed in court documents.

Instead, his wife, Victoria Catanese Kennedy, 48, died that night at the Villa Del Lago Apartments in Shreveport, shot twice in the head. Cedric Edwards, now 59 years old, was convicted of first-degree murder and still awaits execution, 30 years after the crime that allegedly had connections to Gerald Kennedy’s testimony against a gang according to court documents…
