No comment from top Bossier officials on potential National Guard deployment to Shreveport

Gov. Jeff Landry’s September request for the deployment of Louisiana National Guard soldiers to address “high crime rates throughout the state” sparked reactions, speculation and even some wishes from officials in Shreveport, which was mentioned by name in Landry’s letter.

But despite an unavoidably interconnected crime response across the sister cities, it’s been nearly radio silence from Bossier City officials on the subject.

When sent questions for Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler asking whether he would be supportive of the deployment, whether he shares any concerns of some of Shreveport’s elected officials, how it would impact crime in Bossier and whether he’d welcome troops across the river, Louis Johnson, the city’s public information officer, emailed back with no comment…
