SHREVEPORT, La. — The arrest last week of a Caddo corrections deputy has led to the arrests of two more people who allegedly helped to smuggle contraband into the Caddo Correctional Center, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.
Deputy Chardell S. Edwards, 30, was arrested on Oct. 28 in the smuggling investigation.
Caddo sheriff’s investigator Matt Purgerson advanced the investigation of Edwards and that led to an inmate, Chamorea Bell, 29, who is accused of orchestrating a meeting between Edwards and Bell’s girlfriend, Chamarian Worthy, 23. Worthy allegedly met Edwards at an undisclosed location to provide contraband for delivery to Bell.
Purgerson obtained arrest warrants for Bell and Worthy for transporting contraband to and from a penal institution. Worthy was arrested and booked into CCC. Bell, who remains in jail, had the new charge added to his case. Both have bonds set at $15,000 each…
