What’s the story behind this amazing mural in downtown Shreveport? Here’s what we know.

A lot of you know the story of Once in a Millennium Moon, the giant fine art mural that was a gift to the citizens of Shreveport in the year 2000.

Philadelphia-based muralist Meg Saligman spent months in Shreveport talking to hundreds of people and groups, hearing their stories and gathering photos of the mementos they brought with them.

Every person on the mural was a local and every item – from the vases and basket to a garter belt- was owned by someone here. (P.S.- the garter belt hanging from the basket belonged to my mother-in-law.)…
