SHREVEPORT, La. – A historic milestone was celebrated today at Mt. Zion Church, reaching its 158th anniversary.
The church was built established in 1867, two years after the end of the Civil War in the United States. The building may be different, having experienced many changes throughout the decades, but Pastor Marshall Mitchell says the spirit of the congregation remains.
“It means a whole lot to me because there are so many great pioneers who came before me. … We are just so happy and elated for those 158 years and that’s why we are celebrating it, because God has been good and God has kept the doors open even through the storms and rain. God has kept the doors open at the church. And we are just so happy to be a part of it,” said Mitchell…
