Work stops again on East 70th Street Shreveport hotel under construction 5 years. See why.

As the hotel project at 1419 East 70th Street in Shreveport rolls into the new year, there is new information but no activity at the site, “none,” agreed project manager Kelly Martin.

The vacant property, which was most recently a Wyndham Hotel with plans to reopen as a dual-use TownPlace Suites and more upscale SpringHill Suites that will include a Boston’s Pizza Restaurant and Sports Bar has been under construction now for five years.

Martin has worked for hotel owner D. Shiri on and off for several of those years. He says his company, Rectitude Construction, is currently owed $700,000. He has returned home to Georgia and says he will need to “get paid in full before I will come back and do anything.”

Martin told The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate that representatives with the company assured him they are going to “ramp back up, they are just waiting for the holidays” and that the company is not going to file for bankruptcy. Martin says he is willing to wait until February to see what happens…
