Major changes coming to Jimmie Davis Hwy., I-49

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Major construction projects across the ArkLaTex region are bringing significant changes to local roadways, with updates on both the I-49 connector and Jimmie Davis Bridge projects.

The I-49 connector project has faced delays due to the government shutdown earlier this year. Officials have selected a preferred alternative from five options under evaluation and are completing technical studies.

“We know this is an important project for Shreveport in the state, and we are working on it diligently and doing our best to get everything done and delivered ahead of schedule,” said Kurt Brauner, critical project manager with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

Project timeline adjustments

The updated schedule pushes back the original timeline by two to three months, according to Brauner. Despite the delays, the connector project should be completed by the end of 2026…
