When it’s chilly outside there’s nothing better than settling down with your favorite comfort food (and maybe a roaring fire, too).

Chicken and dumplings
Chicken and dumplings is my personal favorite comfort food, and I’ve heard more than once that the dish at Hickory Stick is delicious. It’s on my to-try list – note it’s only available three days a week as the special – Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday – and is served with green beans and cornbread.

Fried chicken
Before Mae & Co. opened in 2024, the logo was revealed: a chicken, two oyster shells, and a mug of beer. Louisiana fried chicken is a permanent entree on the menu, made with two free-range airline breasts and served with whipped ricotta yukons and brandy peppercorn gravy.
