I am really getting excited about Mardi Gras and all the parades this year. But I was chatting with some friends the other night about things you will see at a parade in New Orleans, but not in Shreveport.
What Happened at New Orleans Mardi Gras Years Ago
Some of these were suggested by friends of mine in the local Krewes. Others came from my experience of being at parades in NOLA. I have a very vivid memory of being at a parade on Canal Street when I was about 8 or 9 years old.
Imagine this. I’m holding my Dad’s hand and we are walking down the street waiting for the next parade to arrive. A man wearing a trench coat walks up to me and quickly opened his coat. All he had on underneath was a banana and 2 oranges. Of course, I was shocked and my Father was ticked off. I could tell he had to make a split second decision. Should he deck the guy, or should he get me out of there. He decided to move along quickly. But that memory will forever be etched in my memory bank.
