When the Louisiana Department of Health began compiling the list of residents who died as a result of Winter Storm Fern, hypothermia proved to be a leading cause.
Although a number of warming centers were established as the sub-freezing weather was predicted, two men died in Shreveport near the downtown area, both due to presumed hypothermia. Identification was done through fingerprint matching.
