SHREVEPORT, La. – The Krewe of Gemini XXXVII parade completed its route through the streets of Shreveport on Saturday after moving its start time forward to avoid severe weather. The parade began at 1 p.m. under dreary skies following an announcement from organizers and city officials to shift the schedule. The original 3 p.m. start was moved up to ensure the floats and spectators finished before the worst of the storms reached the ArkLaTex.
Parade goers came armed with umbrellas, ponchos and anything else to keep them dry. They were determined to let the good times roll even if it rained.
Gemini transformed the streets of Shreveport into a world tour of traditions this year. The parade theme, “The Greatest Show,” paid tribute to iconic festivals and cultural celebrations from across the globe. Each float spotlighted a unique international event known for its pageantry and energy.
The parade rolled along Shreveport’s traditional parade route beginning on Clyde Fant Parkway near Sci-Port and ending at the duck pond on E. Kings Highway. It was livestreamed on KTBS 3 Facebook and KTBS+. The free and exclusive KTBS 3 Parade Tracker was also available for those who wanted to keep up with the action in real-time. If you missed the fun, no worries, a highlights show is set for 10 p.m. Saturday on KPXJ CW 21.
