Rep. Steven Jackson of House District 2 in Caddo and Bossier parishes got some good news Friday.
He has been named one of just 18 legislators of the 105 in the state to serve on the important House Ways and Means Committee, one of the so-called state “money” committees.
What does Ways and Means do?
Ways and Means is the committee that is the starting point for tax policy in the state, said Jackson. “Whether we’re talking about income tax reductions or eliminating individual income taxes or raising taxes, or property taxes, that’s where all tax bills, will go. Even when we’re talking about business taxes, inventory taxes, all of that- Ways and Means is where that starts.”
