Shreveport police highlight ‘Calming Corners’ program at Caddo Heights Elementary

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Shreveport Police Department highlighted its “Calming Corners” program Wednesday at Caddo Heights Elementary School. The spaces are designed to help students learn self-regulation skills and manage their emotions during the school day.

Police officials said the corners provide a safe place for children to reset without being suspended or removed from class. The goal is to reduce classroom disruptions while keeping students engaged in learning. Officers emphasized the program focuses on connection rather than discipline.
