The Bossier Parish Fire Chiefs have issued a burn ban for the entire parish, effective immediately.
This action comes in response to increasingly dry conditions and a heightened risk of wildfires across the area. Elevated fire danger is expected parish-wide on Tuesday due to a combination of southwest winds around 15 mph, gusts up to 25 mph, and relative humidity levels below 25%.
According to the Weekly U.S. Drought Monitor, all of Bossier Parish is experiencing drought conditions. The northern portion of the parish is now classified as D2, Severe Drought, while the southern portion is D1, Moderate Drought.
