Shreveport mayor highlights drop in homicides, economic growth in state of the city address

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Mayor Tom Arcenaux used the phrase “from dry bones to life” throughout his state of the city address, calling on Shreveport residents to unify and build a foundation for the city.

Arcenaux said public safety is the cornerstone of that foundation.

“From Martin Luther King Dr. to Youree Drive, from Greenwood Road to East Kings Highway, from North Market to Bert Kouns, public safety is the foundation in which everything else rests,” Arcenaux said.

The mayor pointed to a drop in violent crime as evidence of progress. He said homicides fell from 52 in 2024 to 42 in 2025…
