Shreveport investigators will keep doing their work inside the North Louisiana Crime Lab now that the city council has agreed to pay rent on the space they use.
After the issue of renewing a lease on space inside the crime lab was delayed long enough for that lease to expire at the end of last month, the Shreveport City Council on Tuesday voted to pay the bill. The delay followed questions council members had about how rent related to a hefty donation given to the lab years ago.
Shreveport Police investigators have for years been occupying about 20% of the North Louisiana Crime Laboratory, an arrangement allowing them access to space and equipment they wouldn’t normally have.
