Shreveport among most overweight and obese cities in the U.S., study finds

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Shreveport has been included in WalletHub’s study on the most overweight and obese cities in the United States, alongside other southern cities including Little Rock, San Antonio and New Orleans.

Louisiana cuisine and health consequences

Dr. Jose Zapatero said traditional Louisiana food is a contributing factor to the trend.

“Cuisine is a big part of the Louisiana identity — the Cajun, the Creole, the cooking cuisine. Those are typically, while they are very, very delicious in a lot of cases, they are not really healthy,” Zapatero said.
