Shreveport businesses mark 318 Day with deals, live music and community events

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Area businesses marked 318 Day on March 18 with food and drink deals, live music, and giveaways across the city. While a citywide festival was held in previous years, community organizer, Billy Anderson, said this year’s celebration took a different form.

“There’s no particular reason why,” Anderson said. “It’s just that my personal priorities are focused on other things. And we decided to skip a year so that next year we can come back with a full force.”

Far End District draws crowds

In the Far End District, Sipp House hosted live music, special deals, and giveaways for the occasion. Owner, Shika Sims, said this was her first 318 Day at the business.

“I just love the culture of our city, our food, the events that we have here,” Sims said. “I went to school here. I went to college here. So 318 Day is personal for me because this is home.”…
