Houston, Texas – A strong heat surge will push temperatures across eastern Texas and Louisiana into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees by Saturday afternoon, increasing humidity levels and setting up rounds of thunderstorms along the Gulf Coast.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is an 80 to 90 percent probability of above-normal temperatures across the region through early next week. Southeast Texas, including Houston and Beaumont, and much of Louisiana, including Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and Lake Charles, are in a high-confidence zone for sustained warmth.
Houston is expected to reach the upper 80s between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, with similar conditions extending east along I-10 into Lake Charles and Lafayette.
