The Red River United teachers’ union held a news conference earlier this week after the union, on behalf of a teacher, filed a lawsuit against the Caddo Parish School Board because of pay discrepancies.
Red River United announced that the Caddo Parish School Board has agreed to hear a grievance from a Caddo Parish teacher about her salary discrepancy.
The union, which represents teachers and school employees in northwest Louisiana, identified what they say is a salary discrepancy in 2019 for teachers hired before or during 2018. According to the union, the difference came because teachers hired before 2013 were placed on a salary schedule based on years of service. From 2013 to 2018, Caddo Parish Schools changed its salary schedule to a step-based system, then returned to the years-of-service model in 2018.
