If you’ve noticed a prehistoric shift in the 318 this morning, you aren’t imagining things. Eat Like a Dinosaur Week has officially arrived, running now through April 4th, and our local culinary scene is going full “Cretaceous” to celebrate.
What is “Eat Like a Dinosaur” Week?
This isn’t just a fun excuse to play with your food. This week-long event is a massive community celebration in honor of the Smithsonian Institution’s “Sea Monsters Unearthed” exhibit, which recently opened at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. Shreveport is currently one of only two locations in the U.S. to host these ancient marine predators.
To welcome the Smithsonian to our backyard, locally owned restaurants across Shreveport and Bossier have stepped up to the plate, literally, by creating exclusive, limited-time dishes inspired by the giants that once ruled the oceans.
The “Prehistoric” Menu: Where to Eat
Whether you’re a carnivore, an herbivore, or a sweet-toothed omnivore, there is a “fossil” waiting for you. Here are the participating spots and their must-try dishes:
Bella Fresca: The “Bayou Steak-osaurus Rex”—a premium Wagyu beef steak served with a massive, roasted bone marrow topper that is already the talk of Line Avenue.
El Cabo Verde: The “Infladita Azul Fosilizado” and “Mosasaur Tacos”, creative blue corn “fossil” shells packed with slow-cooked flavors.
