Shreveport’s historic Libbey Glass facility to face wrecking ball; demo begins soon

A property North Louisiana Economic Development has been working to reposition for more than two years is soon going to change dramatically.

The former Libbey Glass at 4302 Jewella Ave. in Shreveport will be going to dirt. Heavy equipment will move in to begin demolition of the 54-acre site this month; the project should take a year to complete.

Lloyd D.Nabors Demolition, LLC of Hutchins, Texas, was chosen to do the remediation and demolition of the site via competitive bid. In preparing their bid, Nabors priced in that nearly 90% of the demolished materials would be recycled.

NLEP believes the property, which sits in a high-visibility location in central Shreveport is prime to become a certified site for private sector “modern manufacturing” once the current structures are removed…
