SHREVEPORT, La.- The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office recognized the first group to complete a new hazardous‑materials training program offered at the Caddo Correctional Center. The program, created in partnership with Southern University of Shreveport, graduated 13 unsentenced offenders on April 9.
The course covers basic safety, health, and environmental practices used in industrial settings. Participants received instruction on workplace hazards, regulatory requirements and risk‑reduction procedures, along with case studies, reading assignments, and scenario‑based exercises.
