Stellantis expands Jeep engine recall. issues steering fix for Ram trucks

SHREVEPORT, La. — Stellantis is expanding a previous recall and initiating a new safety campaign involving thousands of Jeep and Ram vehicles due to engine contamination and steering faults.

The first recall affects 2,689 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder Mopar replacement engines designed for Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrids. According to safety reports, these engines may contain internal sand debris from the casting process, which can lead to engine failure.

The expansion follows an earlier recall of 112,859 vehicles for the same issue. Investigators began looking into the matter after a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe caught fire in the engine compartment.
