In response to a reported sexual assault, the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) has apprehended a suspect following an intensive investigation that began Tuesday morning. The arrest follows a report involving a 61-year-old victim, highlighting the department’s continued focus on addressing violent crimes within the community.
SPD Sex Crimes Unit Launches Immediate Investigation
On April 28, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., detectives from the SPD Sex Crimes Unit were dispatched to a local hospital. There, they met with the victim, who provided a detailed account of an assault that had recently occurred.
Armed with the victim’s statement and initial evidence, detectives quickly worked to identify a suspect. Through the course of their investigation, authorities named Damein D. Mills (born June 14, 1990) as the individual allegedly responsible for the crime.
Suspect Detained and Charged Following Interrogation
With the support of uniformed patrol officers, Mills was located and detained without incident. He was transported to the Sex Crimes Unit for questioning by investigators.
Based on the physical evidence collected and corroborating witness statements, the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Mills’ arrest. He has been charged with one count of First-Degree Rape and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
