Shreveport police prepare for Memorial Day weekend with extra patrols, surveillance

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Memorial Day weekend is approaching, and hundreds of people are expected to draw in crowds.

The Shreveport Police Department says they’re ready.

“We have many camera systems throughout the city of areas where we’ve seen congregations in the past of individuals that are out there, and sometimes these do turn into violent encounters,” said Cpl. Chris Bordelon.

Surveillance and monitoring

Bordelon said more than 2,500 cameras through the Real Time Crime Center will help monitor activity this weekend…
