Forty dollars. That’s how much money residents across the state may save on their electricity bills in 2027.
Last month, Gov. Wes Moore (D) approved House Bill 1532, known as the Utility RELIEF, or Reducing Energy Load Inflation for Everyday Families, Act, which will help low-income families pay their energy bills, lower the cost of solar panel installation and prevent increased costs from large electricity users such as data centers.
“Everybody benefits,” said Rebecca Rehr, director of climate policy and justice for the Maryland League of Conservation Voters. She added that clean energy options such as solar panels are the “quickest path to lowering energy costs.”…
