Fairfax County Public Schools employee charged with embezzlement, computer fraud

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police in Fairfax County charged a Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) employee with embezzlement and computer fraud on June 1 after a months-long investigation.

The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said detectives launched their investigation on April 21 after the FCPS Auditor General alerted them to a possible misappropriation of funds. The Auditor General told police that the source was an employee at Hayfield Secondary School.

Police conducted a “thorough investigation” and determined that 45-year-old Stephanie Gale of Lorton had embezzled more than $40,000 from the school.

FCPD obtained warrants for Gale, and she turned herself in on June 1…
