West African food truck Project Suya will open its first brick-and-mortar location on Saturday, taking over the former Mezcal Cantina space at 8777B 1st Avenue in downtown Silver Spring.
The short-lived Mezcal Cantina, which was located on the ground floor of the Arrive Silver Spring apartment building, closed in November 2025 after rebranding from Tacos Way in the summer.
Project Suya is a family-owned and operated business that opened its first food truck in Bowie and later expanded to two additional trucks in Hyattsville and Silver Spring. The eatery also sells its own spice mixes online…
