Missing swimmer found dead in Potomac River

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Search teams found the body of a missing 16-year-old swimmer Friday, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).

Swift water crews located the teenager’s body in the Potomac River around 9 a.m. His body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office.

MCFRS said the teenager was last seen entering the water near Sandy Landing. He never resurfaced, and crews began searching for him shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday.
