Maryland comptroller reminds taxpayers of upcoming quarterly payment deadline

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Office of the Comptroller of Maryland reminded state taxpayers Wednesday of the upcoming Sept. 15 deadline for third-quarter estimated tax payments, pointing residents to guidance for using the state’s newly launched online portal.

The launch of the digital portal, known as Maryland Tax Connect, marks an ongoing effort to offer a more secure and streamlined system for managing state tax accounts. Approximately 11,500 Marylanders have registered for the portal since registration opened Sept. 1.

Taxpayers submitting third-quarter estimated payments can fulfill their obligations through the portal either by creating an account or using a guest payment option. State tax officials noted that when making an estimated payment in Maryland Tax Connect, the payment period will appear as Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2026, covering the full tax year rather than a single quarter.
