A single Springbrook High School resource teacher was given five to six times the number of extra paid assignments as their nearest peer, according to an internal Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) audit of extracurricular stipends at the Silver Spring school that was shared with Bethesda Today.
The audit’s findings, which broadly criticized the allocation of stipends and supplemental assignments at the school, came two weeks before then-Principal Stephanie Valentine was placed on leave and subsequently retired.
“A single resource teacher holds five active … stipends and six supplemental hourly assignments and is the outlier among resource teachers at Springbrook HS by a factor of 5 to 6 times her nearest peer,” the audit found…
