A state Senate committee took up a public safety bill Thursday that’s been proposed before, but has never made it to the governor’s desk. The Violent Firearms Offender Act will be heard by the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee at 1 p.m. It was reintroduced by Republicans as part of a broader public safety package.
