Major roadway project begins in busy Gaithersburg neighborhood

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Road crews began working on Kentlands Boulevard around 7 a.m. on Monday, and residents in the area say they have some concerns, but realize the improvements are needed.

Now that the construction project is underway, neighbors in the Kentlands community can expect traffic delays and lots of noise for several weeks.

“It’s loud, and it’s dusty,” said Nancy Millman.

Crews will be milling, resurfacing and striping Kentlands Boulevard, along with Booth and Main Streets.

Millman lives in the construction zone.

“Kentlands is not known for its great drivers,” said Millman. “You have to be really cautious of that. Then, you got these big guys going through here.”

Chase Petrosino, who lives in the area, said, “When they’re doing that construction so often, they can close down a couple lanes, and it can make driving a little bit more dangerous.”

Petrosino expressed that because on-street parking won’t be allowed at times, that could create another issue.
