3 teenage boys arrested in connection to armed carjacking in Silver Spring, police say

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Detectives have arrested and charged three teenage boys in connection to an armed carjacking that happened Friday night in Silver Spring.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), on Sept. 27, at around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the 13700 block of Colgate Way for the report of an armed carjacking.

An investigation revealed that the three suspects (a 17-year-old boy and two 15-year-old boys) physically assaulted the victim as she got out of her car in the parking lot. The three then took her car keys and cell phone before leaving in her Lexus, according to police.

She was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The next day, officers arrested all three suspects at a 7-Eleven on Lockwood Drive after they exited the carjacked Lexus.

Authorities took the 17-year-old to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged as an adult with armed carjacking and other related charges. The 15-year-olds are at a juvenile detention center, where they face the same charges.
