Manhunt Underway for Armed and Dangerous Suspect in Annapolis Homicide

Authorities are searching for a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that took place early Wednesday morning in Annapolis. The Annapolis Police Department has identified Roscoe Jerome Jones, 31, of Oxon Hill, MD, as the suspect and has issued an arrest warrant for his capture. The only description provided by the Annapol;is Police is that Jones is a Black male.

Shooting Leaves One Dead, One Injured

The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. on March 19, 2025, in the 100 block of Clay Street as students from Annapolis Elementary School were waiting for their school bus. The shooting left 36-year-old John Simms Jr. of Annapolis dead. A juvenile victim, 11, was also wounded and transported to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore with non-life-threatening injuries.

By Wednesday evening at 6:44 p.m., police obtained a warrant for Jones, charging him with murder and assault. Law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, are actively working to locate and apprehend him.

Public Urged to Report Sightings, Suspect Considered Dangerous

Authorities have warned the public not to approach Jones and to call 911 immediately if he is spotted as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
