DC Fire Department captain arrested for having ghost gun

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — A D.C. fire captain was arrested for having a ghost gun, police said.

A Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) report said that officers spotted a car changing lanes without using a turn signal. They pulled the car over and “immediately saw in plain view the barrel of a firearm.”

MPD arrested Berlin Hiligh, a captain with the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD), for carrying a pistol without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of unregistered ammunition, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a dangerous weapon.

DC News Now reached out to DCFD for a statement. They responded with, “The department is aware of the arrest. The member is not in a full-duty status while the department investigates.”…
